The question is - Why?

I have an exam in 12 hrs and trust me, it's not really one of those where you can get away with pfaffing. But I just can't make myself study (fine, that is the story everytime but this time the excuse is not same as everytime). What has truly been bothering me, eating me up from inside, crumbling my soul and creating an urgent need to obliterate the memories of certain "good" friends of mine.

Until now I had heard from wise people with grey hair, that friends who got married, vanished in a lost world and hardly ever emerged out of it. And, at this point in my life when the last thing I want to think about is shaadi-waadi (I am from a bong family, we don't get married unless we have a few grey hairs on our head and the kids of our friends have passed out of kinder garten.) I am perfectly fine with this system.

My problem is that suddenly everybody seems to get engaged/married. And, somehow they can't keep this news to themselves, they need to put up their pictures on fb, change their status messages and engage in nauseating facebook display of affection (FDA).

The bigger problem is stumbling upon them unknowingly. So, it happened that a few of my friends who had gone missing in the last few months, emerged only to change their fb albums first and then, fb relationship status!

Why not change the status first, give the public a heads up and then upload pictures of shaadi-waadi.

I just feel that I'm losing my friends to marriage, one by one.

It's a sad sad moment in my life. blah.

PS: For the records, however cute kids be (agreed they are really cute) nobody should forget that at the end of the day, they are stupid and manipulative bullies. x-(

Sing it sistah!
I went through the same thing.
Then they all had KIDS!
And now the kids are even almost grown up!
Soon they will re-emerge from their reproductive responsibilities and become people again...>;}

Besties for exam. :-)

I totally agree with you with the friends getting married part. Almost everybody in my college, School and workplace batch is married.

The sad part is every time an old friend catches up there first question is "When are you getting married?", I mean come on man I know you tied the knot (No pun intended, well alright some pun intended) why don't you just be happy in your married life and let me be happy in my bachelorhood life. x-(

So when are you getting married? :P

Yeah, I know it's bloody irritating. I think it is partly because atleast in India, life post-marriage is very different, both for girls and guys. So there are in-law stories, the-better half stories, the stories from the friend's family about the in-laws or the "better-half".

What really amuses me is that now a couple of my guy pals (esp those who claimed that most of their girl pals would be married off before they tie the knot ) have gotten engaged too. :D

"facebook display of affection" hahaha priceless:)
well i faced the same situation on fb some two weeks back, where one in every five status msg was bout some marriage photos or the other. it gets irritating after a point yeah:P 90 pc of my friends are married, some even have kids - some even two. and i realised that after marriage, theres nothing really much to talk with those friends. n god save you when you are in a midst of your married friends with their better halves. you just cannot relate to the talk thats goin on:P
the immediate question i have to answer when i meet friends who are married is "so dude when you getting married?" i feel like sayin "dude do i look like im interested in gettin married", obv dont say it out loud":P
lastly all the best for ur exam:) this is typical, its only when we are so close to our exams that suddenly the online activity starts increasing and the will to study somehow is non existent. 8 sems of engg ka experience hai:P most of my blogging happened during the preparatory leaves when i shudve been studyin:P
take care

Some even two!! I know I know. And I am thinking, "wow, has the pregnancy period shrunk to less than 9 months or what? Didn't she have a kid 'just a while ago'?"

But they all seem more or less happy, so that's good. :) I guess the midlife crisis is yet to hit them :P

I am done with pretty much all the TV serials (even those apart from my fav genre of sitcoms) available on lan! I am onto online TV viewing now!!

I know! There's no running away from it. It's happening on gtalk status messages, facebook, thank God linkedin yet doesn't have a tab for the relationship status, otherwise I am telling you it'll give tough competition to matrimony.com!
